It is always interesting to see how Rotary Clubs and their venue arrangements vary over time. While the formal part of the meeting was in the same room as I remembered from my first visit around 15 years ago, the food situation has improved massively for the Rotary Club of Lichfield St Chad. The carvery arrangement in the main restaurant works really well, although I did think the 'ladies first' approach gave Ryoko a challenge. One of the other Scholars told me two or three years ago that they liked to copy someone else's order to help them with selecting unfamiliar food. Havng to go first forced Ryoko into making her own choices, but she certainly seemed to come away with a full plate, so the decisions can't have been that hard.
Ryoko's presentation was very well received by the Club members and guests, with the questions she received clearly showing their genuine interest in both her and the Ambassadorial Scholarship programme. It was good that the Club agenda keeps the business until after the speaker as this allowed us to start our journey back to Birmingham a little earlier. Strange how some parts of the M6 or the Aston Expressway always seem to be closed off when I volunteer to help transport Scholars back to Birmingham though...
