The Corus Hotel in Shirley was the venue for the celebration of 50 years of Rotary and Inner Wheel in Shirley. A great number turned up to join the Shirley Club members (approx 115) for this evening. It was great to be able to chat to so many people I know from my visits to clubs and to be able to totally relax knowing I didn't have to make a speech. It was great to see Chrissy and Eric Dance there as well. We had a lovely meal and I had great company on my table. We had speeches from David, District Governor (whose father had been a member of the Rotary club and whose mother is still a member of the Inner Wheel club) and Sandra, Inner wheel Chairman as well as the 2 club Presidents. It is also lovely that Jim and Jean, the 2 Club Presidents, are husband and wife.

I thought it was a lovely evening and I really enjoyed the chance to get to know some people really well on my table. It was fantastic to see so many clubs there to support the Shirley members and to make it a really great celebration. It was also amazing to see the clubs' log books which were huge and full of great memorabilia  -made my 2 scrapbooks for my year as DG seem pretty pathetic.
