Sutton Coldfield Rotary Club's Junior Community Awards

Jul 12, 2010 6:30 PM
This is the third year I have been to this event. I love seeing the youngsters getting their certificates after all their hard work over the past year. The awards take three evenings to get through as so many schools and children participate which certainly shows the worth of the event and award itself. The award expects the youngsters to cover several areas of service and extension of their knowledge and skills. We were treated to several youngsters sharing with us their musical skills...

Sutton Coldfield's Out with the Old, In with the New

Jul 9, 2010 7:30 PM
Although no longer DG I have kept a diary since I was 12 and I can't quite kick the habit so I have decided to keep my blog going. It was a lovely warm evening as we drove over to Wishaw (becoming one of my favourite places to go for events). There were many people there including 5 Immediate Past Presidents  (Sutton Coldfield, Nuneaton, Sutton Coldfield Vesey, Erdington and Wylde Green) who along with me were obviously the 'out with the old' brigade. There were also...

It was nice to see responsive faces as I spoke - I still get a little nervous before I get up and speak and it is not always easy to tell if it is going ok....

Sutton Coldfield Club Visit

A lovely ride to Sutton Coldfield Golf Club driven by PDG Peter Isherwood (he must almost know my speech off by heart). We were made very welcome and the time leading up to the start of the meeting went very quickly as we both had several people coming and talking to us. It was lovely to see people wearing their Paul Harris Fellow badges and chains (if only Peter and I had known, we would have bought our chains). Good chatter was had over the meal and I appreciated the good...

Junior Community Awards

Jul 6, 2009 10:30 PM
A very pleasant evening was had at Bishop Vesey School in Sutton Coldfield where the Rotary Club of Sutton Coldfield made its community award presentations (to be repeated on the 7th and 8th as well). The Deputy Lord Provost came to help with the presentation. Over the 3 days more than 230 children will receive their awards. Members of the Rotary Club have spent time with Year 6 pupils of local schools helping pupils prepare and undertake a mixture of community, social and physical...
