Stourbridge Rotary Club Visit

Aug 18, 2010 12:45 PM
A nice welcome was waiting for me as I arrived at the club with the equipment to make a presentation. It was lovely to be back and to catch up with people who I met at many club events last year. After lunch (amazing I still get nervous before speaking) I spoke about the tandem dive Warren and I did back in May. It was very encouraging to see the positive response I got to the talk and the number of questions I was asked. It was also great to receive a donation that has taken our...

Stourbridge Country & Western Evening

May 19, 2010 8:00 PM
Hagley Community Centre was full of people ready for a great night of country and western music provided by Bev Pegg and his band. As I was brought up on this type of music I knew I would have a great evening and I did. The music covered a wide range of styles and certainly got people clapping, tapping their feet and singing along. A fish and chip supper was very welcome and gave us the energy to join in even more in the second half. It was great to see so many people there from...

Stourbridge Interact Club Meeting

Apr 23, 2010 1:00 PM
A beautiful day made the journey from Nottingham to Stourbridge even better. It was great to meet up with John Dutton and visit the Interact Club at Old Swinford Hospital. A few members were missing because of a trip but it was encouraging to hear all that the club has been doing and its amazing fundraising efforts. The group seemed very organised and already had its officers ready to take over next year. After having our photo taken I was shown around the school by Stourbridge Rotarians...

Stourbridge Rotary Club Swing Concert

Mar 6, 2010 7:30 PM
Paul and I had a lovely relaxing evening at Hagley Community Centre with the Stourbridge Rotary Club. Approximately 100 people came to listen to a superb trio of musicians and singer. All of them were great musicians independently and as a group were superb. The songs got your feet tapping most of the night and people were singing along as well. A fish and chip supper was much appreciated. We were well hosted by the Rotarians on our table and had a great evening. We look forward to attending...

Stourbridge's Christmas Concert

Dec 5, 2009 7:30 PM
A glass of mulled wine and a mince pie was available for those who arrived at St. Thomas' Church before the concert began - a nice start. The concert was well attended and was a beautiful occasion. There was a real mixture of choirs, soloists, handbells, a pianist and a youth choir. The variety kept your interest and by the end you were certainly feeling 'Christmassy' if you weren't before you came. The high spot for me was to listen to the youth choir called Stream of Sound who...

Stourbridge Club Visit

Jul 22, 2009 5:00 PM
A club where the President is at the door to welcome all club members and guests to the meeting (a nice little touch). A great venue and stirling staff who despite the electric and gas being cut off by workmen managed to put a lovely meal in front of us including coffee (I think they used camper stoves) - well done to them. A lovely relaxed atmosphere and great conversation around the tables. Both I and PDG Peter Isherwood felt really welcome. I was glad to also help out the obvious...
