This is one of those events that automatically goes into the diary every year. The club expects us to be the last to arrive as we always go to church first and this year we did not let them down. After a very busy day it was lovely to drive over with Paul to Shipston to visit their Christmas Fayre in the town centre. The first thing that struck me (apart from when could we move here?) was the prominence of Rotary. Well done to the Rotary Club that had placed big banners and displays on the stage that could not be missed by anyone and also had several stalls themselves. You could not fail to notice what a difference Rotary is making to this community.

After rushing home from one event to pick up cases (for 2 days away from that evening) and garden chairs I went with Paul to Goldicote Manor for Shipston-on-Stour's BBQ. It was very well attended and although it did rain a little the sunshine was certainly in people's hearts as they ate and drank to their heart's content.
The BBQ was impressive (even for a vegetarian) and the puddings were amazing. I did just about manage to resist second helpings but I was pleased to see so many...

A lovely welcome awaited Brian (my 'chauffeur') and me at the Bridge Inn at Halford. They had obviously forgotten to warn people that it was me speaking as nearly everyone was there - mind you I think they were there to see their newest member inducted which was a great event to be at.
There was a break before my speech so the members did have the chance to escape but amazingly none of them took it (they might next time having heard me now!). It was also lovely to receive a cheque...
