Having had their club meeting on the Tuesday, Lichfield St. Chad Rotary Club held a meeting for prospective members on the Wednesday. It was a smaller affair to allow club members to not overawe the guests but allowed them to get to know them quite well. We were able to talk to them over dinner about the club and Rotary in general. Sometimes a lot of organisation has to go into getting me and Paul to events especially when students are involved and a lot of the arrangements have to be done by text because we are apart all week - tonight was no exception. I was held up at work because of an Ofsted inspection but managed to join the Santa's sleigh on its route around the Radford area. A large group of us representing the clubs of Coventry were there to do our part. Alan Taylor sat as Santa all night and managed to ring his bell for the full 2.5 hours whilst the rest of us knocked on doors along the route. This was day 2 of 3 for Arbury's Safety Town. I have over the years heard a lot about it but never managed to see it until this year. A lovely warm day added to the event. Over the 3 days nearly 700 primary school children will have attended the event from schools mainly in Bedworth and Nuneaton. They get to look at safety in many areas e.g. the home, in water, crossing the road, electricity. They also get to go inside an ambulance and to see a large freight lorry and the safety needed...
