Two Castles Run

Jun 12, 2011 8:45 AM
The weather forecast was for rain and it was not wrong. Paul took us to our marshalling points and then we had to wait in the rain to cheer the runners as they passed us and ensure the traffic did not hinder them. With me was a Southam 2000 member and another 2 were just up the road from us so a nice conversation kept our minds off the cold until we knew the race would soon be upon us. Just before the race got to us (slightly before the 9km point) the traffic controller arrived with a police...

Kenilworth Rotary Club Meeting

Aug 9, 2010 7:00 PM
Several Rotarians visited the Kenilworth Club tonight. 2 members of Meriden and 1 from Knowle and Dorridge. We were kept very good company by the Rotarians at our table. We heard an interesting talk on Nepal and the work of the Leprosy Mission there. I was fine until I had to look at the pictures of the deformed limbs - reminds me why I never became a nurse. The work they do is great and helps to restore some limb movement to those who have suffered leprosy. I had the chance to present the...

Kenilworth 50th Anniversary of Inaugural Meeting

May 17, 2010 7:30 PM
A large group gathered for the 50th anniversary celebration of the inaugural meeting of Kenilworth Rotary Club. We had a similar menu to that served 50 years ago and the menu card contained within it the original menu with all the original signatures. So to ensure that history was maintained we all signed a menu card so that the club can put our signatures into its history books and hopefully pull them out in 50 years time. David Tall ensured that the music playing during the meal was...

Funeral of Tom Roberts

Jan 22, 2010 2:15 PM
Many people turned out in very wet conditions for the funeral of Tom Roberts, a founder member of Kenilworth Rotary Club. It was lovely to have our own Peter Jackson leading the service. Many members of Kenilworth Club were there and others from other clubs as well which I am sure comforted the family as they could see how well loved and liked Tom was. From Peter's address Tom struck one as a man who was very committed, having been in his Lodge and Rotary club for nearly 50 years and at...

Kenilworth Club Visit

Sep 28, 2009 7:00 PM
It was great to be driven across by Bill Bennett and to arrive amongst Rotarians I have known over the years and who have been such supporters of our Youth activities. Both Paul and I are very grateful to them for the hosting they have provided over the years to students coming on our camps (even when they had their own big events to organise). We were made very welcome and the atmosphere was very relaxed. It was nice to be asked to make the speech early in the proceedings rather...
