After attending the funeral of Neill Hill it was then a drive across Birmingham to get to that of PDG Denys Field who apparently was District Governor the year that Neill Hill was Club President of Halesowen Rotary Club. It was good to see several Rotarians from the Edgbaston Club and others there to support the family and remember a good friend of theirs. Other members of the congregation were from his Lodge. A lovely warm evening added to a good venue and great entertainment. The Westlake School was the venue for an evening of Jazz provided by a club member of Edgbaston and his band plus a couple of singers. A marquee was decked out for the event and people bought table decorations that were gold and cream or wore clothes of those colours. The evening was put on in aid of the MS Society and the raffle raised over £400 for this cause.

A nice sunny day welcomed me as I joined the Edgbaston Rotarians at the toll bridge over the River Thames near Eynsham. The club has 2 days of collecting the toll and charitable donations from those crossing the bridge at Christmas. I had enjoyed helping out when Assistant Governor for the club and so was delighted to come back and help this year. It was great to be back amongst old friends and at a club where the President is very proactive in getting the club involved in the Thanks for Life project. What a good way of getting a new member involved. It was nice to meet a new member that I have written to to welcome to Rotary.
