I drove straight from work down to the Arden Hotel for what should be my last Trustees and District Executive meetings. I have been on the Board of Trustees for 4 years and Executive for 6 years - hard to believe I joined Executive in David Robinson's year as District Governor. Both were full meetings and those who attended both meetings were there for three hours. We certainly covered a large range of items.

I managed to get from work just a little late to these meetings. We are responsible for the children's charity funds and the District charity funds. A couple of the Past District Governors add their wisdom and experience to the trustees. Straight afterwards we moved on to the Executive meeting. It was a long meeting but one in which we covered many items including the Membership campaign and the Thanks for LIfe project. Nearly a full house of Executive members and next year's officers met for the final Executive meeting of the year. I was very grateful to Roger Coopey for driving me to the Arden Hotel especially as I only just got home from work as he knocked on the door to collect me. There was a fair amount of business to get through but what I do like about the executive structure is that it allows time to discuss issues in depth so that decisions can be informed ones.

As District Governor you chair the Executive Meeting. I am very fortunate that the executive members are very committed to our work and take their responsibilities very seriously. We reviewed our progress over the past 6 months against our initial action plan as well as determining the budget for the coming year. Long debates took place on some items but they were focussed. A meeting of the Trustees to the District Trust Fund began the evening. It is amazing to think the Trust Fund has been there supporting our District projects especially those for disadvantaged children for over 20 years. It is great to see the Trustees staying so loyal to the Trust over the years.
