Leverton Day Lunch

Nov 7, 2011 12:30 PM
It was great to see so many Rotarians, partners and Inner Wheel members at the Hyatt Hotel in Birmingham for the annual Leverton Lunch. It was lovely to catch up with so many Rotary friends from around the District, not just from the Leverton Clubs. As is usual the RIBI President was present and was the speaker. The food was very pleasant and the company even better. There was chance to move around tables and catch up with people before the speech whch was up to Ray Burman's usual good...

Birmingham Service of Rotary Celebration

Jun 13, 2010 3:30 PM
Major Samuel Edgar, President of Birmingham Rotary Club, organised a most beautiful service in Birmingham Cathedral to celebrate what Rotary does. It was an amazing setting with great acoustics. The Salvation Army band gave real depth to the music and accompanied us well (or is that the other way round?). We also had a couple of songs from the New Testament Church of God which had a more Gospel feel to them and then there was the Cathedral choir and organist who contrasted so well with...

Leverton Day

Nov 9, 2009 12:30 PM
The annual Leverton Lunch was held at the Copthorne Hotel with guests of honour being the Lord Mayor and Mayoress and RIBI President David Fowler and his wife Daphne. Many clubs were represented at the lunch and all bar one of the Leverton Clubs. David Fowler gave a good history of Leverton and the Lord Mayor made a good link between Rotary and the City of Birmingham. It was good to see so many people there to enjoy a lunch together. It was especially nice to see Past RIBI President Neill...

Convention Celebration Dinner

Sep 12, 2009 7:00 PM
The Metropole Hotel was the venue for this dinner and dance. It was great that this was not just attended by Rotarians but by people from several Birmingham agencies who had played a significant part in the Convention and its success. The evening was well organised as you might expect from anything run by Brian Fuller.  The meal was good and the band for entertainment was also good and enjoyable.  People got up and danced and appeared very...

Birmingham Club Visit

Jul 27, 2009 12:40 PM
The first club meeting at the Copthorne Hotel for the Rotary Club (apart from Leverton Lunch previously). Samuel was his usual bright self at the helm and the tables were full by the time we sat down for lunch. It was lovely to hear the chatter around the tables and the obvious enjoyment members have in each others company. It was even more lovely to sit with Penny Sunderland and see that she is gradually gaining her strength. Had some lovely conversations after the meeting with...

Merton House Garden Fete

Jul 12, 2009 6:30 PM
A lovely drive in the sunshine to Ross on Wye was experienced on Sunday afternoon. A beautiful town where the Merton House Hotel is situated. As we got out of the car we could hear the country and western singing from the music festival down the road. If you have never been to Merton House you have missed a treat. The hotel leaflets that I have seen in the past don't do justice to the views you get from the garden. They are amazing and the inside of the hotel is...
