Although I had a slight panic on the way from Nottingham as the traffic was bad I did manage to get to the Atherstone Red Lion Hotel in time to set up the projector and laptop for the talk I was to give. I just about managed to get to Queen Elizabeth School and Sports College in Atherstone to join the Rotary Club, Interactors and their parents for their charter meeting. The Interactors made a short presentation of the work they have already undertaken. They have already raised a lot of funds for the Mary Evans Hospice. Atherstone Golf Club was a great venue with lovely views over the countryside and a really nice ambience inside of it. President Joe and his wife Tracy-Ann looked after us well and the whole evening had a really relaxed feel to it. It was good to see representatives from other local clubs there as well and conversation certainly flowed freely at the tables.

I had a lovely drive through the countryside from Nottingham to Atherstone and got there in plenty of time. It was nice to be welcomed by every member.
This club has done so much to support Troop Aid and encourage other clubs to do the same. This has been a really worthwhile project and one that conversations today suggested could be extended to allow clubs to give more support to individual soldiers.
